Starting a blog is a daunting task, I know, I have been there. I am often asked by new bloggers about blogging tips. So I put together this list of beginner blogging tips and tools for any new blogger in any niche.
Introductory FREE training
I am currently working on FREE introductory training for beginner bloggers – WHAT SUCCESSFUL BLOGGERS WILL NEVER TELL YOU. It will hold you all the truth about blogging so that you can see for yourself if blogging is for you before you start investing money in it. Watch this space – the link to the training will be added soon!
Domain name and website hosting
Once you are done with the new blogger training, start with the blog set up. You will need to buy domain name and hosting service.
I bought my domain GoDaddy, they have been on the market for a long time but nowadays there are dozens of domain sellers.
I am hosting my blog on Bluehost for under $4 per month and I have been happy with them so far. Their interface is easy to use and their customer service has been decent so far.
Choosing a blogging platform
I have chosen WordPress as the platform for building my blog website, which is well respected and widely used among bloggers. Plus it is absolutely FREE.
Content
For any type of blog, content is key, both verbal and visual. To have properly worded content without mistakes use Grammarly. If you have a “writer’s block”, check out this article: How to write a blog in 6 easy steps.
In terms of visual content, I use my own images 99% of the time because this is what makes your blog unique. If I randomly need a FREE stock photo, I go to My Stock Photos.
SEO
If you want Google to rank your blog articles (so that people can find your blog pages) you need to write your articles and pages with Google key words in mind. The absolute BEST resource for key words research (and I have tried many) is Keysearch.co They give you a free limited trial first but then it is a service for a small fee but this is one investment that is 200% worth it.
Your domain and page authority are also important for SEO. It basically shows how many other pages and domains link back to your website, i.e. giving Google pointers: “Look here, this site is expert in this field!” Even though this is not Google’s own parameter (it was introduced by Moz), most SEO experts agree that domain and page authority play a big role in ranking high in Google search results. You can check your domain and page authority for FREE HERE.
Video tool
If creating videos and sharing them on YouTube will be part of your blogging experience then you need to get your hands on Video Blaster software. It helps ranking your videos in top 3 spots on YouTube. This software just came out recently and it is MAGICAL!!! I don’t have any other words to describe it. I also love Video Blaster because it has a great easy to follow training built into it that shows you how to use it.
Managing blog subscriptions
Giving people opportunity to subscribe to your blog attracts your biggest fans, these are the people who want to hear news from you every week and they will always be your most important supporters . Managing the subscription list and doing e-mail blasts is easy with ConverKit. I checked various platforms but ended up with ConvertKit for their professionalism, easy to use site and various helpful trainings that they organize.
